GERGELY RÁKÁSZ - SOLOIST ORGAN CONCERT IN THE CATHEDRAL OF ST. ANASTASIA 14. 1. 2025.

We listened to the solo organ concert of the eminent Hungarian musician Gergely Rákász after the festive vespers in honor of St. Anastasia on January 14, 2025 at 6:00 PM in the Cathedral of St. Anastasia in Zadar.

Gergely Rákász gave his first concert at the age of 15, as the youngest concert organist in the country. He studied and performed in the USA until 2005. He has given over 1,700 performances in the largest cities of Hungary, Europe and the USA. His unique perspective fills classical music with a youthful dynamic. Gergely created a new genre with his visual concerts, in which, with the help of visual art, dance and acting, classical music and the organ were brought closer to thousands of people. His show “Concert in Blue” was visited by almost 30,000 people across Europe. Together with his audience, he supports many noble causes in his charity projects, the most significant of which is the Csaba Böjte Children's Home in Tusnád. As part of his school program, his concerts have been played in more than 100 Hungarian schools, and almost 50,000 students have been introduced to classical organ music thanks to him. He founded a fund in 2018 and with the contribution of the fund and some Hungarian artists, Gergely organizes concerts for Hungarian communities living outside the borders of his homeland. He sees these concerts as a seam between two torn parts of one nation. He has released 10 solo albums. He is a cultural ambassador of his hometown of Győr.

The audience enjoyed his virtuoso performances for more than an hour. Gergely himself interacted with the audience, addressing them before each performance. He emphasized his enthusiasm for the city, the cathedral and the organ. The audience was particularly enthusiastic after the "encore" when he performed a Traditional Hungarian composition.
