As part of the 4th International Organ Festival “Organ of St. Anastasia”, on Friday, 25 June 2027, at 8 p.m., the distinguished Hungarian organist Rákász Gergely will perform at St. Anastasia’s Cathedral in Zadar.

This will be his second appearance in Zadar Cathedral. He first performed before the Zadar audience on 14 January 2025, on the eve of the feast of St. Anastasia, patron saint of the cathedral and the Archdiocese of Zadar, when he impressed the audience with his unique artistic approach.

Rákász Gergely is one of the most recognizable Hungarian concert organists of today. He gave his first concert at the age of 15, becoming the youngest concert organist in Hungary, and has since performed more than 2,000 concerts in Hungary, Europe and the United States.

He is known for his innovative concert projects through which he brings classical music closer to a wide audience. His programmes combine outstanding organ interpretation with elements of visual art, dance, theatrical expression and fascinating stories from music history. His projects such as “Bachalley”, in which he combined Bach’s music with street dance, and the concert series “Lords of the Organ”, which has become one of his most renowned formats, have attracted particular attention. Through numerous educational and humanitarian projects, he has made a significant contribution to introducing organ music to new audiences, especially young people. He has released thirteen solo albums, is a recipient of the Pro Urbe Award of the city of Győr, serves as a cultural ambassador of his hometown, and is an artist whose performances connect the tradition of organ heritage with new forms of concert experience.

His concert at St. Anastasia’s Cathedral will be an opportunity for another encounter with the Zadar audience and a meeting with an artist who presents the organ as an instrument of a rich past, as well as of unlimited contemporary possibilities.
