James Gough is a distinguished British organist and Assistant Organist at Southwark Cathedral. He began his organ studies with Huw Tregelles Williams OBE and continued in Bristol with Dr David Ponsford. In 2009 he completed a Master’s degree in Organ Performance at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied with Nicolas Kynaston. During his time there he was awarded the FRCO and LRAM diplomas, won several prizes including the Eric Thiman Organ Prize, and was selected to perform for the visit of Elton John.

As a recitalist, he has performed the complete organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach and César Franck, and has appeared at major UK venues including St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, and Westminster Cathedral, as well as at festivals across Europe. In 2024 he released a recording of Bach’s Trio Sonatas on the Naxos Records label, following a collaboration with Dame Gillian Weir. Alongside his performing career, he teaches organ at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, Westminster Abbey Choir School, and Westminster School.
