SOPRANO

Margareta Klobučar is a Croatian soprano with an international career. She was born in Sisak, where she began her musical education, and continued her vocal studies at the Fran Lhotka Music School. She completed her studies in solo singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, graduating in 2000, and subsequently pursued advanced studies in Lied and Oratorio. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including First Prize at the Croatian National Competition for Solo Singing in Split, First Prize at the International Singing Competition in Deutschlandsberg (Austria), and a finalist placement at the International Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna, where she received several additional awards and a scholarship as the youngest participant. She began her operatic career at the Vienna Chamber Opera and has since performed at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, the Berlin State Opera, the Graz Opera, and at international festivals, including the Mörbisch Operetta Festival. From 2001 to 2015, she was a permanent soloist of the Graz Opera, where she performed more than fifty operatic and operetta roles. She regularly appears in concert and oratorio performances with renowned orchestras and conductors, including engagements at the Musikverein Vienna, the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall, as well as collaborations with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra. She has recorded numerous radio broadcasts and commercial recordings for ORF and other labels.

In addition to her operatic repertoire, she devotes special attention to chamber music and contemporary music-theatre projects.

Since 1 December 2023, she has been teaching as Assistant Professor of Solo Singing at Juraj Dobrila University of Pula.
