ORGANIST - CONDUCTOR
S. Josipa Pavla Jukić a member of the religious community of the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross, dedicates herself with great passion and commitment to music and spirituality. She began her musical education in Croatia and continued it in Austria, completing her studies at the renowned University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna (mdw). In her graduate studies in Church Music, she specialized in organ and improvisation, Gregorian chant, and choral and ensemble conducting. During her studies, she further developed her skills through numerous international courses and seminars in conducting (Voces8), improvisation (Rudolf Lutz), and Gregorian chant (Inga Behrendt). As a student, she directed the Chor Unisono Wien and served as director of church music at the Visitation of Mary Convent in Vienna. She is a recipient of an honorary award from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research for outstanding academic achievement.
She currently teaches organ and choir at the Josip Runjanin Music School in Vinkovci, and organ, conducting, and singing at the Archdiocesan School of Church Music in Đakovo. She has been invited multiple times as a lecturer at the Week of Church Music and Choral Singing in Austria, where she led workshops in Gregorian chant, psalmody, and conducting. As an active artist, she regularly performs in Croatia and abroad as an organist, improviser, and conductor. She is the founder of the ensemble Greg8, dedicated to the performance of Gregorian chant and early music. In addition to her concert work, Sr. Josipa Pavla Jakić also serves as a church musician: she is cathedral organist at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Đakovo and director of the convent choir and church music at the Convent of the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross in Đakovo.
