PHILOSOPHER - THEOLOGIAN - ORGANIST
Mo. Anđelko Igrec was born in 1968 in Heidelberg.
He attended primary school in Prelog (Međimurje), and later completed secondary school as well as studies in philosophy and theology in Zagreb. After his education in Croatia, he completed studies in organ and improvisation in the class of Prof. Hans Haselböck at the University of Music in Vienna. At the same university, he also studied church composition in the class of Prof. Wolfgang Sauseng, composition in the class of Prof. Klaus P. Sattler, and orchestral conducting with Prof. Uroš Lajovic and Johannes Wildner. He works in Varaždin and Baden near Vienna as an organist and choir director of the Mixed Choir "Chorus Angelicus" Varaždin. He is a member of the Croatian Composers’ Society and the Croatian Society of Church Musicians. He was a long-standing and highly productive director of the Office for Church Music of the Diocese of Varaždin. He taught at the Institute for Church Music “Albe Vidaković” of the University of Zagreb. At the Organ Summer School in Šibenik, he led the class in improvisation and Gregorian chant. He is co-editor of the journal for sacred music Sveta Cecilija. He has performed organ concerts throughout Croatia and in neighboring countries. For his work as a composer and organist, he has received numerous awards and recognitions.
