ASSOCIATED PROFESSOR

Zdenko Dundović was born in Zadar on October 31, 1973. He attended and completed elementary school in Zadar. From 1998 to 1992, he attended the Archbishop's Classical Gymnasium in Zadar. From 1992 to 1994, he studied and completed philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Society of Jesus in Zagreb, and in 1994, he enrolled in theological studies at the Institute of Philosophy and Theology of the Society of Jesus in Zagreb. He graduated from the same institution in 1998. He enrolled in postgraduate studies in church history of the 2nd and 3rd cycles (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) at the Catholic Faculty of Theology, University of Zagreb in 2012. He received his master's degree from the Catholic Faculty of Theology, University of Zagreb in 2015 on the topic of the Nin Chapter of the Church of St. Anselm. He defended his doctoral dissertation at the Catholic Faculty of Theology, University of Zagreb in 2017 on the topic of the Zadar Chapter, its goods and chapter dignitaries in the last hundred years of the rule of the Venetian Republic (1697-1797). He gained work experience in education as a catechist in primary and secondary schools from 1998 to 2013. Since 2015, he has been employed as an assistant at the Theological and Catechetic Department of the University of Zadar, and in 2018 he was elected to the scientific and teaching position of assistant professor. Since 2018, he has served first as the acting head and then as the head of the Theological and Catechetic Department of the University of Zadar. At the Theological and Catechetic Department of the University of Zadar, he teaches the following courses: Church History, Methodology of Scientific Work, Patrology and the elective course History of the Church in Croatia. He is the president of the Society for the History of the Archdiocese of Zadar "Zmajević". He is active in English, Italian and Latin, and passive in German. His scientific interest is the study of the early modern past of the Zadar and Nin dioceses with an emphasis on the economic, political and interdenominational interaction of church structures. In this regard, he has researched church and state archives in Croatia and abroad. He primarily conducts research in the Archives of the Zadar Archdiocese, the State Archives in Zadar and the Scientific Library in Zadar, and regularly visits the State Archives in Venice (Archivio di Stato di Venezia), the Apostolic Archives in the Vatican (Archivio Apostolico Vaticano) and the Propaganda Archive in Rome (Archivio Storico de Propaganda Fide). He is an active collaborator on the scientific project "Modern European Diplomacies and the East Adriatic Area", funded by the Croatian Science Foundation.
