THEOLOGIAN - MUSUIC EDUKATOR
Ivon Fabijanec was born in Koprivnica.
He completed his secondary education at the Varaždin School of Music, where he graduated in organ performance and music theory. In 2013, he enrolled in the Philosophy and Theology program at the Catholic Faculty of Theology, University of Zagreb, earning his Master’s degree in Theology in 2019. That same year, he began undergraduate studies in Church Music – Music Pedagogy at the Institute for Church Music of the Catholic Faculty of Theology, completing his Bachelor's degree in 2022.
He continued his studies in music pedagogy by transferring to the Department of Music Pedagogy and Tamburitza at the Academy of Music, University of Zagreb, where he obtained the degree of Master of Music Pedagogy (univ. mag. mus.) in 2024 after defending his thesis “The Use of Gregorian Chants in Solfeggio Teaching.” In the same year, after defending his thesis “The Liturgical Drama Visitatio sepulchri in the Manuscripts of the Zagreb Metropolitan Library,” he earned the degree of Master of Church Music (univ. mag. mus. eccl.). He is the recipient of the Dean’s Award for Best Student Paper: “Church Singing in the Parish of the Holy Trinity – Legrad.” He serves as Secretary of the Croatian Society of Church Musicians and is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Christian Culture Festival Pasionska baština. He is the organist of the Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Shrine of Our Lady of Močile) in Koprivnica – Močile, where he directs the children’s choir and youth choir. He is also the organist of the Parish of the Holy Trinity in Legrad, where he leads the parish mixed choir, and conductor of the Ludbreg City Mixed Choir “Podravina.” In the production of the Croatian Radio program “Tracing Music” (editor: Dr. Hana Breko Kustura), his most recent research was used as an example of Croatian medieval liturgical drama manuscripts.
He has published several articles on sacred music in the journal Sveta Cecilija.
